NYC authorities have put a load of archive photos online and there’s a lot fascinating stuff.

I like this one of Brooklyn Bridge in 1914, 31 years after it first opened.

Almost a million photos have been published, and The Mail has selected some of the best.

As England geared up for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, businesses went into overdrive churning out merchandise. This was the first report I produced with Chris Hollins before we went to SA for the tournament.

Puppy’s run in with cactus

This puppy was found in the US full of cactus spines. The news agencies fed over some pictures and BBC World TV ran them. I re-ordered them and dropped in a soundbite.

What’s this Graphene stuff?

Basically, it’s a sheet of carbon, one atom thick, which is very transparent, very conductive and very strong. It comes from pencil lead. It could be used to make computer chips and screens. It’s creators won a Nobel prize.

Spray-on electronic display

Researchers at our very own Exeter University are trying to develop a Graphene based spray-on electronic screen.

The team has just created a new material they call GraphExeter, said to be the most transparent, flexible electronic screen ever.

Pebble watch raises millions

This e-paper watch project on the Kickstarter website has raised more than $3m in just a few days – a record for the site. It syncs with your smartphone letting you see who’s calling you, control your phone/music dock and lots more. It’ll cost $150 when it goes on sale, which should be pretty soon.
